Something clicked in my head the minute I decided to do my paintings on wood-it just felt right for me as an artist. I mean, I even love the smell of lumber; it reminds me of my childhood growing up on a farm in rural Pennsylvania. Recycling scrap wood is great because each piece is usually pre-cut (cutting is not my favorite part of the process) and unique with dents, pencil marks, or corners missing. I work on smaller pieces of wood rarely measuring longer than 12" in length and the reason for that is simple- I can't seem to find anything bigger! Of course I'm constantly trying new things but my heart will always be with making recycled wood bold.
